California is expensive to live in. There are a few stores that do offer some reasonable prices on food.

  1. I love it when you go through your food ads for some reason. I mean – its not applicable to me in TX but I love to browse the food ads with you!

  2. There’s no such thing as Grocery ads here, but fruit and vegetables are usually very inexpensive. Not much variety on vegetables, though.

  3. Jen, the prices in your area are just amazing. For comparison, I was in Wal-Mart today. One avocado was $1.29; Roma tomatoes are $1.49 a pound. Giant eagle is featuring seedless cukes, 2 for $4. An 8-ounce bag of sweet mini peppers for $2. Those are just a few examples. I was blown away to see Wal-Mart discounted fresh turkey breasts for .40 cents a pound. That is literally unheard of. I bought one for $1.12 cents. Other than that, no bargains. I’m fortunate to only buy for one, though. Thanks for sharing. It’s always interesting to see prices from other areas. Do you still try to keep your budget at around $75 a week? Starting in January, I want to shoot for $100 a month for all groceries and household items. (:

    1. 40 cents for turkey breast is a great great price.
I was surprised to see these prices in the weekly ad.

I did fall off the wagon of grocery budgeting. I definitely want to start again. My husband and I are empty-nesters so I’m gonna test how much of a budget we need. I want to try budgeting starting in January.

I too like watching grocery hauls and seeing prices from different areas.
