  1. Start growing a garden, even if a couple plants to start out with and add more as you learn to garden.

  2. Hmmm interesting. I work for one of the bigger ag companies in salinas ca. I remember things differently. It was warm but not enough to effect the season. We were actually pretty busy in june. The volume In general throughout the year has gone down. I dont know if it’s the state of the economy or what it is. If ppl are on a budget salad isnt much of a priority. But heat I dont know. Rain was a problem the first few months of 2019 it wouldn’t stop. Sounds like inflation to me. I got 15 years experience loading trucks. This year has been slower but saying it’s the heat. We only had like one warm week that I can remember in june. Other than that rain or clouds is what we get

  3. Aldi’s had eggs on sale a couple of weeks ago. 50 Cents a dozen! I bought a lot of eggs! Put them in muffin tins, froze them and they are now in freezer bags. They’ll stay good a year that way.

  4. Wow! You’ve been paying 69 cents for a head of lettuce??? I haven’t seen those prices since prior to the Tsunami in Japan!

  5. Pray for the farmers…I know those floods and droughts and heat is affecting the farmers badly.

  6. Farming is becoming a non-sustainable practice in my state because of laws requiring farm laborers to get x numbers of hours off after working, get x number of days off, plus be able to unionize. Add in our crazy weather, it’s becoming more difficult for New York farmers to keep their business. Also, a friend of mine has told me that she knows two people who owned farms who committed suicide because they were losing their business. There are so many different variables, that I could easily discuss but don’t want to steal AP’s thunder.

  7. Lettuce gas been up a while. The lettuce was $1.99 and now it’s back down to $1.49 here in Michigan. The quality of the iceberg was low like you mention.

  8. Speaking of coffee prices increasing, I have been stocking up for the last 2 months, on a major brand (red can) coffee from prime pantry, 38 oz can has went from 6.41 to 6.91 to $9.99 today!!!!!!!!!
